Marketplaces
Payments. Commissions. Payouts. All-in-one.
Accept payments from buyers, take out a commission and send the rest to sellers, without a separate payout integration. Marketplace payments have two parts: a payment link that collects from the buyer, and a recipient that the seller's share is routed to.
A recipient is a payout destination for a seller: a bank account, a name and a relationship. It isn't a sub-merchant, so a seller has no Mamo account, KYC review or dashboard of their own. Your business, the marketplace, is the merchant of record for every payment and carries chargeback, refund and VAT liability. When a buyer pays a link with payouts_share set, Mamo splits the money and records the seller's share against their recipient; the rest stays with you as your platform fee.
How it fits together
- Register each seller once with Create recipient. Registration is immediate.
- Create a payment link with
payouts_shareusing Create payment link, passing the seller'srecipient_idand one ofpercentage_to_recipientoramount_to_recipient. - The buyer pays the link. Mamo credits the seller's share to their balance on the payment's settlement date, together with your own share.
- Mamo pays the seller on schedule. Payouts go from the recipient's balance to their bank account on your account's payout schedule, and you get a
payout.processedwebhook for each one.
Managing a marketplace
| You want to | Use |
|---|---|
| Register or look up a seller | Create recipient |
| Check a seller's IBAN before saving it | Validate IBAN |
| Split a payment automatically | payouts_share on Create payment link |
| Hold the seller's money until an order is fulfilled | Skip payouts_share, then pay the seller with Issue payouts when you're ready |
| Charge only once a seller accepts or ships an order | hold_and_charge_later on the link, then Capture payment |
| See every payment | List payments |
Seller vs. sub-merchantA seller is just a recipient in the API. Recipients don't go through onboarding or KYC, and the API doesn't model a seller with its own merchant-of-record status. Disputes, chargebacks and refunds run through your Mamo account, not the seller's.
The Split payments page covers fees, timing, liability and settlement in detail.
